Cook Signs Music Artists on Marriage
David C Cook vp of acquisitions and publishing Michael Covington has acquired world rights to the first co-authored book by Christian music artists Rebecca St. James (Fink) and Cubbie Fink. In the book, the couple share their views on love, faith and marriage in the public eye, as well as how they overcame trials and challenges to build a life of faithfulness. Erik Wolgemuth of Wolgemuth & Associates brokered the deal. Australian-born St. James, best-known for her many contributions to the Christian music industry, is also an author, whose titles include Wait for Me and Pure. Along with new music, Rebecca recently launched a podcast with Focus on the Family where she and her co-host talk about family, faith, and parenting. Cubbie Fink was a founding members of the indie-pop band Foster The People. Publication is set for October 2024.
Brazos Signs Curtice
Brazos Press editorial director Katelyn Beaty has acquired world rights to The Life of a Story by Kaitlin B. Curtice, an enrolled citizen of the Potawatomi nation, author, storyteller and public speaker. The book follows the life cycle of an oak tree from acorn to mature elder to fallen seeds to explore the power of stories to shape our collective identities, as well as examine which stories are worth passing on. Curtice is represented by Rachelle Gardner of Gardner Literary. A fall 2025 is planned.
Women Prophets to IVP
Jon Boyd, associate publisher and editorial director at IVP Academic, has bought world rights for God Spoke Through Her: Women Prophets as God’s Spokespersons in Scripture by Nijay K. Gupta. The unagented Gupta (Tell Her Story) considers the role of female prophecy in Scripture as one of the arguments for female pastors or preachers and to how God thinks about women. Release is in Winter 2028.
Church Leadership, Parenting to Brazos
Executive editor Robert Hosack at Brazos Press has taken world rights to the unagented Walking with Saints and Monsters by Lutheran Seminary professor Andrew Root and Kara K. Root, pastor and author of Receiving This Life. The book weaves three narratives to give readers a new vision of church leadership and parenting, addressing the problems of control and offering an invitation to uncontrollability.
Biblical Authority Expert to IVP Academic
Prolific author and highly respected Old Testament professor John H. Walton has signed a world rights deal with IVP Academic’s Rachel Hastings for the tentatively titled The Crisis of Biblical Authority. Slated for spring 2026, the book argues that the decline in biblical authority is not necessarily stemming from a biblical illiteracy issue but rather from a crisis of hermeneutical illiteracy. Walton, who is unagented, is professor emeritus of Old Testament at Wheaton College and Graduate School, and was professor of Old Testament at Moody Bible Institute for 20 years.
'Faithful Feet' Walk to WorthyKids
At WorthyKids, Melinda Rathjen acquired world rights to Faithful Feet by Laura Sassi, illustrated by Emanuela Di Donna. This rhyming picture book inspired by Scripture showcases how people of all ages—in Bible times and present day—use their feet to share God's love. Publication is slated for winter 2025. Charlotte Wenger at Prospect Agency represented the Sassi, and Sarah Thomas at the Bright Agency represented Di Donna.
