Spirituality of Reading to Paraclete

Paraclete Press director Lillian Miao has acquired world rights to World of Wonders: A Spirituality of Reading by Jeff Crosby, who is president of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. In the book, Crosby, who is unagented, looks to reveal the ways that reading deepens and enriches our spiritual journey and takes us on a journey of discovery throughout our lives. Publication is set for October 21, 2025.

Charismatic Prayer Studied

Richard Brown, senior executive editor of Bloomsbury/Rowman & Littlefield, has taken world rights to Tongues on Fire: How Charismatic Prayer Changes Evangelical Brains and Mobilizes Spirit-Filled Activism by Josh Brahinsky. Rita Rosenkranz of Rita Rozenkranz Literary Agency brokered the deal. Brahinsky, a Jewish anthropologist and researcher at UC Berkeley, studied a charismatic community of tongue-speakers for the book, which illuminates the practices, neuroscience and political activism of this increasingly influential group, according to the publisher. Publication will be in August 2025.

IVP Takes God/Natural World Title

IVP’s associate academic manager editor Zachary Gordon took world rights to Jeremy Daniel Blaschke’s Dance Flies on Valentine’s Day: Lessons from the Natural World on God, Sex, Gender, and Morality. Blaschke, associate professor of biology at Union University, blends theology, philosophy and zoology to explore the diversity and strangeness of animal courtship through a theological lens that, according to the publisher, reminds readers that a good God created a good world—sex included. The author is unagented. The book will release in spring 2027.

Broadleaf Takes Book on Gun Culture

Award-winning veteran reporter William J. Kole has sold world rights to In Guns We Trust: The Unholy Trinity of White Evangelicals, Politics, and Firearms to acquisitions editor Valerie Weaver-Zercher at Broadleaf Books. The author was represented by Rick Richter of Aevitas Creative Management. Kole looks to pull back the curtain on the alliance between white evangelicals, gun culture, and right-wing politics, as well as the Christian dissidents who are trying to change the hearts and minds of their people. Publication is planned for fall 2025.
