PubWest announced that it will be offering two professional development conferences this summer, designed to develop new skills and techniques for book publishing professionals with one to five years experience in the industry. The one-and-a-half day PUB501 summer sessions will be held at the University of Denver (June 19-20) and Portland State University (June 26-27).
“PUB501 offers an impressive value for newer publishing staff,” said Dave Trendler, president of the PubWest board of directors. “We view it as an affordable investment in the future of our industry, offered at a time of year when a day and a half out of the office is doable even for busy publishers.”
PubWest will allow registrants to deduct 50% of their PUB501 registration fees from registration for PubWest’s 2015 Conference in Pasadena, Calif., and will also offer a free one-year individual membership for PUB501 registrants who have not been PubWest members in the past. The organization created the summer sessions after deciding last fall to move its annual meeting from the fall to early winter.
