The National Book Foundation has selected social entrepreneur Kyle Zimmer as its 2014 Literarian Award winner, for her "outstanding leadership and achievements in overcoming childhood illiteracy and promoting educational equity."

Zimmer is the president and co-founder of the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit social enterprise, First Book, which distributes quality books at little or no cost to millions of underserved children in communities throughout the United States and abroad.
