The PEN American Center is putting 75 one-of-a-kind first editions, annotated by America's most famous authors and poets, on the block. The auction of the collection, called First Editions\Second Thoughts, will take place on December 2, at Christie's.
The rare first editions have been, in most cases, heavily annotated throughout by the author. Participating authors include Paul Auster, T. C. Boyle, Robert Caro, Billy Collins, Michael Cunningham, Lydia Davis, Don DeLillo, Junot Diaz, E.L. Doctorow, Jennifer Egan, Neil Gaiman, Khaled Hosseini, Tony Kushner, Jhumpa Lahiri, Colum McCann, Jay McInerney, Toni Morrison, Joyce Carol Oates, Marilynne Robinson, Philip Roth, George Saunders, Jane Smiley, Patti Smith, Tobias Wolff, and many more.
