Welcome to the first U.S. Book Show, presented by Publishers Weekly. The world is different than it was a year ago. This show is different. And we couldn’t be more excited to keep the publishing community connected.
Drawing on PW’s deep editorial expertise, the U.S. Book Show is a natural extension of what PW does best: building buzz around books and reporting on the most important and timely topics impacting the entire publishing ecosystem. The U.S. Book Show gives the industry a place to gather and, more importantly, a platform for publishers to promote their fall 2021 titles to a community of professional book buyers, librarians, and media under one virtual roof. To that end, we have developed eight PW Editors’ Picks panels that feature editors presenting the fall titles they are most excited about. We received hundreds of submissions for each category, which PW reviews editors ultimately whittled down to a handful. No easy task!
The Editors’ Picks panels will be augmented by a number of other events. Keynote speakers will share intimate details about their books; publisher-driven buzz panels will feature a wide array of authors; and professional panels intended for publishers and booksellers will present timely and topical discussions.
A special Libraries Are Essential track embraces a simple truth: public libraries are more than just a key marketplace for publishers and authors. We’ll look at how libraries provide the basic elements necessary for a strong literary culture: literacy, education, equal access to information, access to broadband, diversity and inclusion, and information literacy.
In addition to all this, virtual exhibit halls will provide attendees with opportunities to interact with 140 exhibitors. The halls and booths will bustle with live author chats, events, and hundreds of documents, videos, and other content ready to be discovered.
Powered by our platform 6Connex, with panels produced by Burst Marketing, the U.S. Book Show will give participants a robust experience, allowing them to learn and connect.
Creating a new show in such a short amount of time was a team effort. From the onset, everyone at PW leaned in to develop something we are sure will help all elements of the book industry sell books. I personally want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the PW staff who stepped up to make the event a reality.
And, finally, thank you to all the publishers and sponsors who are supporting the U.S. Book Show.
I hope all attendees have a fruitful three days.
