Brian Murray, president and CEO of HarperCollins Publishers, will be the sole speaker at the Frankfurt Book Fair’s annual CEO discussion. In the event set for October 8, Murray will talk about the current transformation of the global book business with journalists from five international trade magazines, including PW.
Under Murray’s leadership, HC has expanded through acquisitions and growth in digital revenue, which are now about $200 million. He oversaw the purchase of Thomas Nelson as well as the pending acquisition of Harlequin. Based on 2013 revenues, HC is the world’s 16th largest publisher, according to PW’s annual global ranking.
Murray’s appearance at Frankfurt will take place at 2:00 p.m. in Hall 4.0. Other magazines participating in the event are Livres Hebdo, The Bookseller, buchreport, and PublishNews Brazil. International consultant Rüdiger Wischenbart will be the moderator.
