Penguin Random House Canada has announced a new combined marketing and publicity team under the leadership of Beth Lockley, who will serve in the newly created position of v-p, marketing and communications.
With the change, Josh Glover has been promoted to director, publicity. Tracey Turriff, who served as both senior v-p, corporate communications and governmental relations, and v-p, director of publicity, is leaving the company after 22 years.
PRH Canada’s chief operating officer Robert Wheaton, in explaining the thinking behind the changes, said: “Increasingly, the boundaries between marketing and publicity are blurring... Traditional media options for readers to discover new books are being supplemented with a fast-changing range of alternatives: online magazines, influencers, bloggers, sponsored and partnership content, podcasters, and many others... These new media platforms and personalities require the outreach and relationship management skills of the publicist alongside the increasingly technical skillset of the marketer.”
Lockley will report to Wheaton, while Glover will report to Lockley.
