Indigo Books and Music will be the official bookseller for the new Inspire! Toronto International Book Fair, which is set for for November 13-16 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Rita Davies, one of three executive directors of the fair, told PW that Indigo was selected following a request-for-proposal process in which booksellers were invited to present applications to provide seamless bookselling at the event’s programmed stages. The five stages include a main stage, a children’s courtyard and activity zone, a culinary square and two smaller stages. Over 200 hours of programming are being designed for the stages, Davies said.
Davies said an announcement with more details would be coming later today.
Unlike BookExpo Canada, which was an annual publishing trade show held in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre that was closed by Reed Exhibitions in 2009, the new book fair is intended to be a consumer focused fair.
According to information from Inspire!, the exhibition floor is 60% sold.
