Anita Silvey, v-p and publisher of Houghton Mifflin Children's Books, has announced that she will be leaving at the end of May. Silvey plans to devote her time to writing and teaching about children's literature; she will be working on a revision of her 1995 book Children's Books and Their Creators, as well as teaching courses at Simmons College and St. Michael's College. Silvey, who has been with HM for five and a half years, had previously served as editor-in-chief of the Horn Book for 11 years. HM executive v-p and publisher Wendy Strothman has begun a search for her replacement. Also in the children's division, Jennifer Roberts will be stepping down as marketing director.
