TechBooks has entered into an agreement to sell its print division to a group of managers led by Jim Kell Jr., senior v-p of the print unit. The sale is part of Fairfax, Va.—based TechBooks' strategy for focusing on its core business, which is data conversion and producing cross media content, according to TechBooks president Tom Cunnigham.
TechBooks acquired the print operation when it bought York Graphic Services in 1999. Cunningham said that TechBooks integrated York's content preparation business into its own operations and stabilized the print unit to the point that the print division can now operate as a stand-alone company. The print group will operate under the York Graphic Services name.
The print group accounted for about $8 million of TechBooks' revenues of $54 million.
