The deal was done with Frank Curtis at Rembar & Curtis.... Edgar winner T. Jefferson Parker scored his biggest payday yet when Trident Media Group's Robert Gottlieb signed him for seven figures for two books with Marjorie Braman for Morrow. The North American rights deal calls for two novels, subjects and titles unspecified, for next year and the one after.... Canadian mystery writer Howard Engel, the subject of a recent NYT story about how he continues to work despite a stroke that has affected his memory, signed a deal for two more in his Benny Cooperman series, one of which, Memory Book,afflicts his hero with a similar problem. The buyer was Philip Turner at Carroll & Graf, dealing with Toronto agent Beverley Slopen.... Riverhead publisher Cindy Spiegel sprang for six figures for another Canadian project, a graphic memoir called I Was a Child of Holocaust Survivors by Toronto writer and artist Bernice Eisenstein, who has provided comic strip—style illustrations to the story of a childhood shadowed by her parents' fearsome memories. It was bought from its Canadian publisher, McClelland & Stewart, which has also sold U.K., Spain and Holland rights.
