Following the merger of most of Macmillan’s higher education assets with Springer Science+ Business Media, Macmillan’s trade operations have begun phasing out the use of the Palgrave name.
St. Martin’s Press became home to Palgrave’s trade publishing program in 2014 when the company decided to separate Palgrave’s trade and professional operations. The professional unit, Palgrave Science and Education, is now part of the merged Macmillan and Springer company.
According to St. Martin's Press, it will begin retiring the Palgrave name immediately. Books acquired after May 5, 2015 by the current Palgrave staff at St. Martin's, and previously acquired books going into production, will be published under the St. Martin's Press or Griffin imprints.
The Palgrave staff members now working for St. Martin's will continue to manage their previously acquired projects, and will also begin to take on general St. Martin's assignments.
Karen Wolny will become executive editor; Elisabeth Dyssegaard will continue as executive editor; and Emily Carleton will continue as senior editor. In marketing and publicity, Christine Catarino continues as associate director, marketing, while Gabrielle Gantz continues in the St. Martin's publicity department as associate director of publicity.
